Dear Students and Guardians,
Yet another month has gone by, and we have officially entered the Autumn season. I hope that you are enjoying the changing colours which nature is providing us with! It’s so nice for Mr Drage and myself to be outside each morning between 07:45 and 08:20, welcoming the students and staff to school, but with the changing of seasons, a reminder to wear the correct warm & rain-protective clothes when needed.
We have had a great start to the school year here at IESUm and students have settled in so well after the beautiful summer break which we have had, I am so proud to see the students interacting and learning in class when I have been observing lessons these past few weeks. Well done!
On the 28th of September IESUm Staff will visit and get inspired by IES Sundsvall.
It is hard to believe that there are now well over thirty IES schools all over Sweden. All slightly different but then again all following the IES ethos: A safe, calm environment where teachers teach and students learn, where we have bilingualism and where we put a great emphasis on Academic achievement. A reminder that school will close on September 27th at 12:00 and be closed on the 28th .
Also, I was extremely impressed when speaking to students this week about the days that they spent on work experience (PRAO) last Friday. It seems that the students got so much out of the day, and this is something we are very proud of here at IESUm, preparing the students for their working lives in the future.
You can find out more about upcoming events and what we have been up to in our newsletters which are now updated weekly on our webpage by our fabulous Heads of Year.
I’d also like to introduce you to a new idea this year, “Coffee with the Principal”
From October, each month we will have the possibility to come and have coffee with me, to discuss the school, and have a chat in a relaxed forum. These will usually take place the first Friday of each month, on the following dates between 09:45 and 10:45:
Friday 5th October
Friday 9th November*
Friday 7th December
Friday 11th January*
Friday 1st February
